Can you believe the 50th class reunion has come and gone?
St Paul High School Class of 1959 Reunion a Success..........
On September 26, 2009 the class of 1959 got together again after a rather long time had passed. We had a reunion that we called our 30th reunion but we actually had it on the 29th year after we graduated. Oh well, we had fun then also.
The reunion was held at the "Wrought Iron Grill" which is in the old Woodward Furniture Company factories on south Shiawassee Street.
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon as the class began to assemble. There was 1950 music playing and drinks were available and enjoyed by many. This class website was projected on a large screen while we mingled. At the appropriate time Fred Pirochta said grace as we took our places at the table. After grace, we enjoyed a champagne toast given by Bob Stechschulte.
The meals were then served and from all accounts it was pretty good food. The meal concluded with a desert of decorated cake that Bettie (Spaleny) Pirochta had procured. Tables were decorated by Betty and Marcia Allen including flowers Marcia provided.
We then had the program for the evening with Bob Stechschulte acting as Master of Ceremonies. Bob had prepared a computer power point presentation which featured a separate page for each class member. As the page on the large screen filled with their pictures each class member got up and gave a short talk about themselves and their life, family, events and recollections of the days at good old St Paul High School. Even as the restaurant was closing there was a group of class member enjoying themselves on the outside porch. Pictures of the evening are located on this site at the "50th Reunion" tab at the top of this page.
On Sunday many class members and families attended church as a group at the 10:00 am Mass at St Paul's Church. After the Mass we were fortunate to be able to go over and tour the school and marvel at how small it seemed since we left and how little it had changed. Some classmates then had lunch and continued visiting and reflecting on the old days gone by. All in all it was a good time. See you in 2011.
